Tips for a roadmap to a better life
The importance of health coaching
Many of us already have some knowledge about what they should be doing to live a healthier life. But why is it so hard to do it and keep on doing it ? Having someone to support and empower you is key to a successful journey.
In functional medicine coaching, it is not the coach who is the expert who will tell you what to do. You are encouraged to play an active and engaged role because behaviour plays a fundamental role in chronic disease and in health in general. We know that change is anything but easy. It takes drive and motivation to change habits, especially if you’ve been doing things a certain way for a long time. Most of all, it takes support — and that’s where health coaches excel.

Grit & Gratitude specializes in coaching people with a wide array of health issues, like fatigue, stress, autoimmune diseases, … in finding the right solution to a healthy and balanced life. We do that mostly, but not exclusively, together with a physician (Functional Medicine or other), by identifying and addressing the root cause of your disease or problem. Conventional medicine focuses a lot on symptoms, where functional medicine is more a patient-centered approach that addresses the whole person, not only an isolated set of symptoms.
Why we believe in functional medicine… and how you can benefit from it.
Most importantly, because functional medicine is health-oriented and not disease-oriented. You could say it’s what healthcare should be about. Functional medicine also evaluates a patient’s environment, including their diet, lifestyle, use of cosmetics, air and water quality, and so on. Why? We know that our modern diet, lifestyle, and environment change the expression of our genes—changes that give rise to diseases and syndromes. What our bodies need, biologically speaking, is not always what our bodies get in the modern world. That mismatch is often a contributor to chronic disease.
Nutrition plays a very important role. Looking at it from a holistic point of view instead of just focusing on the nutritional facts, such as a food or food group’s ability to improve or damage health. Functional nutrition also looks at these facts, but in the context of the individual: how they live, how often they move, possible allergies, the quality of their relationships, and their stress level. Essentially, just because a food or food group has been demonstrated as being “good for you”, doesn’t mean it’s good for YOU. Functional nutrition means one size doesn’t fit all.
Health is the new wealth.
